- I live in England and Norway. I'm from Adelaide, South Australia, but I am currently in the final stretch of a PhD on Australian medievalism at the University of Leeds. I did an MA in Medieval Literature at the University of York in 2003-4. I split my time between Leeds and Halden, Norway, because the lovely Michael started a job here in January. Northern Lights is my day to day musings and adventures, The Little Book Room is, well, just how it sounds.

thanks! yes the cake is amazing and tastes even better (if this is possible) than it looks.
not having been there when my gorgeous housemate iced this cake in secret in her matchbox sized bedroom at midnight, i can only hazard a guess as to the chocolate bar. i reckon it's something german from the cheap german supermarket across the road.
i can't remember the last time someone made me a cake (i'm usually designated cake maker).
Wow, looks like you had a great birthday. Congratulations on reaching 29, now you can stop and be forever young. I have a feeling though that you'll be forever young at heart. The cake looks great! You share a birthday with one of my granddaughters who was 18 this year. I think she had a drunken camping party in the woods!!
